i have a bad habit of oversimplifying many things.

firstly, i guess because im always very confident of myself. =P
another reason is that during this year, many assignments regardless of subject require a personal definition of certain words.

that would lead to oversimplification as the argument would only work based on your meaning of the word. for example, 'experience' (see previous post).

another example is my answer for the ss exam. the question asked for my opinion on 'disregarding the past as only the future mattered'.

my answer was that if living in the future refered to a state of the world, then it would be possible to live in the future. for example, if living in the future meant that everybody migrated to live on the moon, then if technology advanced so rapidly that everybody lived on the moon, then they would be living in the future.
see? oversimplification. my definition is not useful at all.

what i can conclude is that not every word should be given a definition as that limits the meaning of the word as well as the argument.

but for some words like 'censorship' a definition should be given as that tells the reader where the author is coming from. - from mr koh.
