hi a quick update on my life! i am now a tutor for 5 students, 1 p6, 2 sec2s, 1 sec4 and 1 jc1. initially i thought that tutoring would be a relatively stress free job that pays very very well. like 5 times bengawan's salary per hour. i would just have to 'turn my knowledge into wealth', according to edwards tuition's slogan. just turn up at my student's house for a few hours every week and watch while he/she does his/her homework. but NOOO!! money will never fall from the sky! both my sec 2 students are very intelligent and hardworking, they have been obtaining A1s and A2s/B3s consistently. their parents engaged me so as to make sure that they would obtain straight A1s and get into the triple science stream in their school. they expect me to coach their child on answering techniques, source for exam papers from other schools, and perhaps even spot exam questions nearer to exam time! also i realised that p6, sec 2 and sec 4 are very very impt years in the education system in singapore! psle, sec 2 streaming and O levels! omg! the student's lives are entrusted in my hands! stressed! my p6 student aims to score 205 for psle, thats a fine line between express and normal tech. i only have 1.5x4x8 hours before psle to pull up his dismal grades and ensures he gets into the express stream! my sec 4 student has been scoring F9 for maths since sec 3. recently she scored 3 upon 74 for a maths class test and her father hopes that i can help her achieve a B3 or 4 for O levels. 2 weeks ago i spent 45 minutes teaching her how to complete the square, and even then she needed hints in order to solve the problem... thankfully, all my students are agreeable people, and they genuinely want to learn from me. except for one who looks at the clock frequently and invites me to leave when exactly 1.5 hours have passed. hmm, sometimes i feel bad for charging so much when i dont feel i have made a significant impact on the student, so i try to spend a bit more time with the students, to reduce the cost to hour ratio, yet when the student themselves are unwilling to learn more, i cannot do anything! all in all though, tutoring is still an enriching job, i get to be the student's study mate and get a glimpse into the student's lifes, by entering their homes! haha! what a long post without paragraphs! im not practising what i preach to students about good compositions with appropriate paragraphing! fail!

edit-- i am now teaching 10 students, and working 7 days a week. very busy but fulfilling=D
