last week of holidays

i've been having weird thoughts. can humans hibernate? a fat person can then just sleep for a month and then wake up and presto, he is now 20kg lighter! oops, i forgot that we need water and it cant be stored in the body, can it?

------

nrp on monday, wednesday, thursday and friday. i think im very fortunate to live near to school. i take close to 4 hours to travel to and back from nie and i cant do anything on public transport. i try to sleep but i dont feel refreshed after napping on the train/bus, my eyes will be shut but im still conscious. mrts are too noisy to sleep anyway, every station is around 3 minutes (i think) and before and after the mrt moves, there will be an annoucement. that means that there is hardly 3 minutes of peace not forgetting the numerous "look out for suspicious belongings", "single-trip ticket $1 refund" and "no eating and drinking" announcements in 4 different languages no less.

the project involves studying the chemical compositions of intermolt and exuviae exoskeleton of giant freshwater prawns (macrobrachium rosenbergii). to make a pellet, i have to grind the prawn shell into very fine powder and then measure 0.0025g of it. the grinding part is the worst as the shell is extremely though and elastic, especially the intermolt shell. the best part making pellets is the hydraulic pump. i tihnk its really amazing to apply 10 tons of pressure to some powder and tada! the powder is now a solid pellet. nick even made a tissue paper pellet for fun. maybe one day i would try using sugar or something and make sweets. hee.
